Llangollen shares spotlight with the Gold Coast

Talent from across the globe is gearing up to compete in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod’s 2018 International Voice of Musical Theatre, for the chance to tread the boards on Australia’s Gold Coast.

The winner of the prestigious title will join hundreds of international performers in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod’s Musicale. The concert Down Under is a celebration of musical theatre and one of the highlights of the seven-week long Australian festival of music and dance.

Group Selections Celebrate the Marvellous Multiculturalism of the International Eisteddfod

 

 

 

Thousands of performers from 28 countries across six continents will bring the hills of the Dee Valley alive with international music and dance this summer, as they descend on the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in July.

Following an intense selection process, the International Eisteddfod’s team has curated a final line up of 84 vibrant, varied and talented international acts from hundreds of applicants who have been invited to perform in competitions at this year’s festival or appear in non-competitive showcases.

With tickets for the 2018 festival (3rd – 8th July 2018) selling fast, the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has revealed 16 of the exciting groups that are set to perform on the iconic Royal International Pavilion stage this summer.

International Eisteddfod and The Cavern COME TOGETHER

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod announced today that the world’s most famous music club, The Cavern Club, will host its first ever pop-up stage at this year’s festival. The Liverpool-based music venue will be joining bands including the Kaiser Chiefs at the festival’s finale party, Llanfest, on Sunday 8th July, as the date also marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ animated film Yellow Submarine.

This exciting collaboration on the Lindop Toyota  Globe Stage will see The Cavern Club entertain audiences with performances by their world class resident musicians.

The legendary club has been the beating heart of Liverpool’s iconic music scene for over seven decades and will celebrate The Beatles pop history at the festival – hosting a myriad of music performances by world class singers from Liverpool.

International Eisteddfod celebrates World Piano Day by revealing repertoire for two-pianos performance

To celebrate World Piano Day [Thursday 29th March] the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has revealed the repertoire for its Music Director, Vicky Yannoula’s performance with acclaimed pianist Peter Jablonski.

Forming part of The Classical Collection on Wednesday 4th July, pianists Vicky and Peter will take to the stage of the International Pavilion for a moving collaboration, featuring well-known and much-loved pieces, in a performance inspired by the power and magic of the piano.

Llanfest Headline Sponsor Announced as Tickets Hit General Sale

Wrexham-based multidisciplinary contractor, Knights Construction Group, has lent its support to the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, through the sponsorship of its hugely popular Llanfest festival on Sunday 8th July 2018.

The announcement comes as tickets for star-studded line up of Kaiser Chiefs, The Hoosiers and Toploader go on general sale on Thursday 22nd March 2018.

SCOTTISHPOWER FOUNDATION TO DONATE £1 MILLION TO GOOD CAUSES ACROSS THE UK

 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has been selected to receive part of a £1 million funding boost from the ScottishPower Foundation.

Backing charity initiatives as diverse as wildlife conservation and science-themed education to mental health awareness and theatrical productions, ScottishPower Foundation selected the international music festival’s Inclusion Project, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

International Eisteddfod celebrates International Women’s Day 2018

This International Women’s Day, the Llangollen Eisteddfod celebrates the achievements of global women on a worldwide stage – both literally and figuratively.

Renowned across the world for its message of unity and peace, the International Eisteddfod is a firm advocate of equality and gender parity, which is continuously demonstrated throughout the duration of the weeklong festival in July.

We Predict a Riot at Llanfest 2018

Multi-platinum English indie pop legends Kaiser Chiefs have announced their headline appearance at Llanfest, the finale party of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, on Sunday 8th July in Llangollen, North Wales.

The concert will be the band’s first Welsh gig in almost two years and one of the first opportunities in 2018 for fans in the region to see the band live.

The five-piece band from Leeds, who shot to stardom in 2005 with their sophomore album Employment and are best known for songs including Oh My God, I Predict a Riot and Ruby, will be joined on the bill by renowned pop rock band, The Hoosiers and nineties icons, Toploader.

Final Call for Pendine International Voice of the Future competition

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is seeking talented young soloists to enter before the March 2 deadline so they can vie for the prestigious title.

A “sensational” soprano who won one of the main prizes at an international festival is urging young soloists from around the world to enter this year’s competition to launch their career on the global stage.

According to Sian Dicker, 27, being crowned the Pendine International Voice of the Future at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has been a boost to her career aspirations to become a leading opera singer.
