Hymers College Junior School Choir

 

Biography: Hymers College Junior School Choir is from Hull, East Yorkshire, England. The school choir is one of three choirs in the Junior School and consists of children in Year 6, aged 10-11, who voluntarily wish to sing. Their rehearsal is once a week after school.

The school has become well known recently in the UK as one of its choirs was Runner Up in the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition in 2013. Choirs from the school have qualified for the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition for the last 7 years, performing at the Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall in London. They have performed at the Music for Youth finals in Birmingham Symphony Hall, regional proms and also for the Premier Inn staff after breakfast.

The choir has also toured to Edinburgh, singing at St. Giles’ Cathedral, Canongate Kirk and Edinburgh Castle. They also enjoy performing at a variety of charity events.
