Parade of Nations tours the region

In a break from tradition the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has taken its annual ‘Parade of Nations’ to the streets of nearby towns and cities.

The annual ‘vibrant carnival of cultures’ parade features performers waving flags representing their nation. It has always taken place in the quaint festival host town of Llangollen. For the first time in the festival’s history, volunteers toured the streets of Liverpool, Chester, Wrexham and Oswestry to celebrate the launch of the International Eisteddfod’s fun-filled daytime programme.

Ysgol Dinas Brân School Children Send Message of Peace

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has selected local secondary school, Ysgol Dinas Brân to participate in its annual peace initiative at this year’s festival.

Performing on the main Royal Pavilion stage on Thursday 5th July, the school is set to deliver the International Eisteddfod message of peace in a performance of mime and narration, complete with a song entitled ‘Peace at Last’. (more…)

Arty Local Students ‘Makeover’ Eisteddfod Building

A local school has provided a key building on the site of the International Eisteddfod with a makeover for its 70th anniversary celebrations.

Pupils from Ysgol Dinas Brân were invited by the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod to create a piece of artwork that represented the festival’s message of peace, goodwill and international friendship, which have been transformed into a mural to brighten up the Eisteddfod’s hospitality building.

The mural was formally unveiled on Tuesday 4th July, when 12 of the 100 children involved attended a reception with President of the International Eisteddfod, Terry Waite CBE.
