Cor Ysgol Pen Barras

Ysgol Pen Barras has a deep routed musical tradition and performing and singing is a big part of our daily life at our school. Over the years our choir has had a variety of valuable performing experiences in Wales and beyond. This year our Choir consists of 48 pupils ranging from 8-12 years old and we practice weekly with Mrs Sioned Roberts our conductor and Mrs Elin Owen our accompanist.

This year we won the Junior choir and the Cerdd Dant choir at the Urdd National Eisteddfod and have performed on numerous Welsh television programmes including, ‘Cerddwn ymlaen’ with Rhys Meirion, ‘Carolau Llandudno’ and ‘Dechrau Canu .Dechrau Canmol’.

We are currently preparing to perform and film ‘Carol yr Wyl’ for S4C at Ruthin Castle as our carol ‘Carol y Ffoadur’ which has been composed by the accompanist has been selected for the Welsh final in December. We also feel very blessed to have been invited to perform at the ‘North Wales conference for Head teachers’ in November and we are preparing to record a selection of songs for an audition for the ‘Cor Cymru’ competition.

We feel lucky to be invited to sing at various venues and take part in a variety of Concerts throughout the Year to give our children the best possible experiences, life-long memories and self-confidence through the beauty of song.
