There is a tradition of choral singing at Heath Mount and Bax Choir is made up of our most experienced singers, performing to the highest standards; Bax Choir won the BBC Songs of Praise Junior School Choir of the Year Competition 2012.  They have performed in some of the UK’s foremost concert halls and have toured abroad, including in France, Germany, Hungary, and performed at the Vatican, Rome in 2016.  Many of our choristers have gone on to gain places in the National Youth Choir, and one former Bax member won the BBC Young Chorister of the Year Competition 2013.

Cassandra White has conducted Bax Choir since her appointment as Director of Music in 2016. She studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and taught singing at The Purcell School of Music, before discovering her passion for choral conducting.  Cassandra directed the NLCS Canons Choir for five years, during which time they performed as Category Finalists in Choir of the Year 2014 and were selected for Let the Peoples Sing.  Canons Choir was featured on BBC Radio 3’s The Choir and awarded 2nd Prize in the Junior Children’s Choir category at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in 2015. She had been to Llangollen before conducting other choir.  She said that “It is a fabulous experience, and every year the choristers return having made new friends, grown in confidence and learnt from the experience.  It is an inspiring festival to take part in”
