Limelight is a cappella quartet of women who began singing together early in 2014.
Julie Zalewski, Tenor, Carol Becker, Lead, Jo Anne Gunderlock, Baritone, and Karen Johns, Bass, are all members of Sweet Adelines International and represent two choruses, Gem City and Scioto Valley, which are both located in the state of Ohio in the United States.
The quartet participates in the annual Sweet Adeline regional competitions, and enjoys performing in musical shows and for a variety of parties and other events. Each of the singers has enjoyed many years of barbershop harmony, and all are excited to share this American art form with audiences.
This year, in March, they sang at a Celebration of Life for a man who loved barbershop. Theythought it was unusual to be asked to sing songs from our regular pop repertoire for an hour during the funeral visitation.
They have sung the National Anthem for our city’s baseball team, the Dayton Dragons (in Ohio) and were excited to see ourselves on the field Jumbotron.
Each year they deliver in-person Singing Valentines to people in their local community. This year some of their Valentine recipients were an officer at the Wright-Patterson Air Force base, and a 4th grade school teacher with his whole class in attendance. (The kids loved the a cappella music.)
