Biography: Usha Rao, Bharatanatyam, a dance artist and teacher, leads Sai Mayur Bharatanatyam Dance School. She received her dance training in Bharatanatyam (Mysore style) in India.
Sai Mayur Dance School was founded in 2013. Now there are around 40-45 students, which includes adults, and conducts classes on the weekend in Chester. The students have successfully passed various grades of ISTD examinations. A few of the students were even selected for the Centre for Advanced Dance Training, Yuvagati to further their learning. The students aim to give public performances at least twice a year, to demonstrate what they have learnt as well as giving them the opportunity to perform outside the dance studio. The focus of this school is to build young girls into confident, joyful young women, with an understanding for their heritage and this truly beautiful, elegant art.
