Parade of Nations tours the region

In a break from tradition the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has taken its annual ‘Parade of Nations’ to the streets of nearby towns and cities.

The annual ‘vibrant carnival of cultures’ parade features performers waving flags representing their nation. It has always taken place in the quaint festival host town of Llangollen. For the first time in the festival’s history, volunteers toured the streets of Liverpool, Chester, Wrexham and Oswestry to celebrate the launch of the International Eisteddfod’s fun-filled daytime programme.

Nominations for Rotary International Peace Award open

The Rotary International Peace Award, which recognises peace initiatives both in the UK and internationally, is now receiving entries from nominees until 30th April 2019.

Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, is encouraging all community members to submit details of local individuals or organisations responsible for the furtherance of peace, for the chance to gain international recognition.

Grosvenor Insurance helps local groups take to international stage

Chester-based and Wrexham-based Grosvenor Insurance Services has donated £5,000 to ensure a local community inclusion initiative can be performed at this summer’s Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

The festival’s Inclusion Project has been running for ten years, helping promote unity and diversity throughout North Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire. A diverse mix of local disability and community groups whose marginalized members would not usually have the opportunity to perform at international events, will practice together over the coming months culminating in a unique performance on the main stage at the festival in July.

Llangollen Eisteddfod to celebrate St David’s Day with Special Ceremony

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is to host an international themed St David’s Day Event on Friday 1st March to raise money to help fund overseas competitors to the festival.

Music Director of the festival, Dr Edward-Rhys Harry, said: “The Saint David’s Day event will help to raise vital funds for the bursary fund ensuring that we can welcome as many international competitors to Llangollen in July as possible. It is great to see such talented local performers giving their time to support this cause.

“It is definitely going to be a traditional event not to be missed and is most certainly the perfect excuse to celebrate both Welsh culture and international inclusivity.”

New search launched for singing stars of future

A “supremely talented soprano” has launched a search to find the world’s most talented young singers.

According to Charlotte Hoather, 24, winning the prestigious Pendine International Voice of the Future competition at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod last year catapulted her career to a new level on the global stage.

Entries are already flooding in for the prestigious competition this year which has a first prize of £5,000, along with a £2,000 cheque for the runner up.

Llanfest’s Double Bill of Sponsors

Two Wrexham businesses have been announced as sponsors for this year’s Llanfest, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod’s hugely popular finale festival on Sunday 7th July 2019.

Wrexham-based housing developer, SG Estates, and Wrexham Lager are joint sponsors of Llanfest 2019, which has a star-studded line up this summer, including The Fratellis, The Coral, The Pigeon Detectives and Dodgy.

The Fratellis and The Coral to headline Llanfest 2019

Celebrated British rock bands, The Fratellis and The Coral have announced their double headline appearance at Llanfest, the finale party of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, on Sunday 7th July in Llangollen, North Wales.

The influential band from the Wirral, The Coral, who recently released their critically acclaimed new album Move Through The Dawn will fill the International Pavilion with perfectly-crafted melodic and eccentric songs as well as renowned classics including Dreaming of You, Pass it On and In the Morning.

Also taking to the stage will be award-winning Scottish band, The Fratellis, who roared into their second decade with their fifth album, In Your Own Sweet Time in 2017. The three-piece will rock the Pavilion with their famous top 10 singles, Chelsea Dagger and Whistle For The Choir as well as some new hits which push the band’s mantric sound in vivid new directions.

Royal Harpist next in line to star in International Eisteddfod’s 2019 Concert Series

To celebrate tickets going on sale to the general public today <Wednesday 12th December 9am>, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod announces Royal Harpist and Vice President, Catrin Finch, as the next addition to its star-studded evening concert line-up for 2019.

Internationally renowned harpist and composer to H.R.H The Prince of Wales, the Vice President of the Eisteddfod, Catrin Finch is one of the most accomplished and versatile harpists of her generation. Showing talent from an early age, Catrin had the honour of being Royal Harpist for four years before delighting audiences as a worldwide performer.
