This year we’ve moved our Community Band competition, onto the mainstage. It’s going to be spectacular! Today our Male Voice, Female Voice and Open Choirs will battle it out ready for the Choir of the World final in the evening. Who will be our ultimate champion of 2024? We will also see a variety of different dance ensembles with the Llangollen Dance off. The Peace message (from our Children’s Day) will also be on today giving those who were unable to see it the first time the chance to see it again.


 In the Pavilion today:

  • Instrumental: Community Bands – Brass, Wind or Concert Bands made up of people of all ages will perform a programme of at least two contrasting pieces in a performance that does not exceed 12 minutes in duration. The programme will include at least one piece by a composer from the UK.

  • Choral: Female Voice Choirs (SSAA) – This competition is for female voice choirs aged 18 years or over. They will sing a programme of 10 minutes of music. The programme will include repertoire by a composer from the choir’s native country and at least one unaccompanied piece. (original or arrangement).

  • Dance: Llangollen Dance off – Groups of between 4 and 30 dancers aged 18 or over and up to a total of 8 musicians and 2 flag-bearers will perform in a traditional or contemporary style for a maximum of 6 minutes. Any genre of dance permitted and entertainment value and engaging the audience is encouraged. The audience will be asked to indicate their favourite group and this ‘vote’ will be noted by the Eisteddfod adjudicator when deciding the champion.

  • Choral: Open Choirs – This competition is for open choirs with no age limit. They will sing a programme of 10 minutes of music. The programme will include repertoire in one genre only (e.g. Acapella, barbershop, classical, glee, gospel, jazz, pop, show, musical theatre) and their programme will include at least one unaccompanied piece and groups may include some elements of choreography.

Choir of the World, International Voice of the Future and Dance Champions 7:30pm
The winners of the Mixed, Chamber, Female Voice, Male Voice and Open Choirs will compete against each other this evening for the chance to win £3000 and the Pavarotti trophy with a programme of 10 minutes each. We will also be showcasing the winner from competitions Traditional Folk Dance and Choreographed/stylised dance group as they compete for the Dance Champions title and £500. The wonderful finale of the International Voice of the Future will also take part this evening with a prize of £3000 up for grabs.
