Hot Six

Inspired by the swing era stylists of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, the ‘Hot6′ performs music by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Bix Biederbeck, Fats Waller, early Duke Ellington and the John Kirby sextet. The band has now been together since January 2012 and after tentative beginnings we think we have now developed a good band sound which is original whilst still being firmly rooted in the jazz tradition. The band is lucky to have Liam who is responsible for most of the bands repertoire and writes all of the arragements they play which tend to be re-imaginings of the classic jazz repertoire featuring tighty harmonized horns and guitar set against the rhythm section backdrop.                                                       The rhythm section combination of bassist Jim Swinnerton, guitarist Andy Hulme and Jack Cotterill on drums creates a really authentic and infectious swing feel while the talents of standout soloists, Jamie Brownfield and Tom Kincaid can really energize and lift the band.
