In the Pavilion today: Join us for a spectacular day in the Pavilion with Open, and Adult Folk Song Choirs, our Young Voice of Musical Theatre, the semi- final of our International Voice of the Future and our International Folk Soloist competitions. In addition, we have our Choreographed/stylized dance group competition as well as our Individual Dance Competitions (solo, duet, trio). A truly varied day and not to be missed!
Folk Dance: Choreographed/Stylised Folk Dance Group – this competition is for groups with a minimum of 4 dancers who are aged 16 years or over. They may be supported by up to 8 musicians and 2 flag-bearers. They will perform a programme of up to 6 minutes of dance showcasing creative, entertaining choreography based on their folk-dance traditions.

Choral: Open Choirs – This competition is for male, female or mixed choirs of no fewer than 16 voices and there are no age limits in this category. They will be performing a programme of up to 10 minutes in one genre of music (e.g. a cappella, barbershop, chamber, classical, glee, gospel, jazz, pop, show, musical theatre). Their programme will include at least one unaccompanied work and choirs may include elements of choreography into their performance.

Solo: International Folk Soloist – this competition is for instrumentalists or singers of all ages who will perform an appropriate programme of up to 6 minutes that is representative of a local or regional tradition.

Open Dance: Open Dance Solo – competitors will perform for up to 2 minutes to a pre-recorded music track. Performances can be from any genre, including, but not limited to, ballet, contemporary dance, folk dance, street dance, tap dance etc.

Open Dance: Open Dance Duet/Trio – Competitors will perform for up to 2 minutes to a pre-recorded music track (original or commercial in nature). Performances can be from any genre, including, but not limited to, ballet, contemporary dance, folk dance, street dance, tap dance, ballroom dance etc.

Choral: Adult Folk Song Choir – this competition is for male voice, female voice or mixed voice choirs of no fewer than 12 members who are aged 18 years or over. They will be performing a programme of two contrasting traditional folk songs from the choir’s own country, lasting for no more than 7 minutes.
