Secondary Schools- Youth Day

During these turbulent global times, it is more important than ever to stress the positivity of nations working in harmony. At Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod we strive to bring nations together through music and dance, and celebrate cultural diversity. The Eisteddfod is an ideal educational opportunity where students can witness different forms of music, dress and language and thereby understand that we are all the same despite coming from all parts of the globe. This year’s theme of peace and friendship is more relevant than ever in our troubled world.

The Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA)wants to celebrate young people who have contributed to peace in their school, their local community or globally in a variety of ways.  We are working with Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod who will host a Young Peacemakers Awards Ceremony at the Eisteddfod on 9th July where young people will showcase what they have done and receive a certificate and an award.

As the world reflects on the ending of WWI a century ago, the theme for the 2019 Eisteddfod will explore “A Century’s Perspectives on Peace”.  Each day our outside stages and performance spaces will feature our international competitors and performers that highlight the importance of peace and showcase a variety of cultural influences.  The main pavilion stage will see performances by leading choirs, vocalists and dancers from around the globe.

Secondary schools are invited to take advantage of our special offer and bring a group of young people to experience this utterly unique occasion for only £5 per pupil (with 1 free teacher for every 12 children). This ticket gives access to the main pavilion (unreserved seating) and the Eisteddfod field with the outside stages, performance spaces and field activities.

Whilst you are welcome any day of the week, we recommend that you attend on Thursday, our International Youth Day!

Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is one of the few occasions when young people meet in happiness and harmony, sharing their diverse and interesting cultures. The students of today will be tomorrow’s future and visiting our unique event is an excellent way for young people to understand the importance of humanity.

We are also offering 30 min slots for your pupils to take to one of our outside stages and perform. This can be any type of performance, singing, dancing, drama, instrumental or any other talent your pupils would like to showcase! Please contact us if you would like your school to take part.
