Biography:

Beechwood Community Choir is a choir based in Stockport, England.

Nine years ago, director Lesley was approached to host a 6 week “Sing for health” course for the patients and staff of Beechwood Cancer Care centre in Stockport. We started with about 12 people and it was very quickly clear that music was a hugely beneficial pass time for them. The differences in mood and well-being from entering the rehearsal to leaving was clear to see, it was quite inspirational.
That 6 weeks stretched to nine years, with the group moving just across from the centre, and developing into an independent, un-auditioned Women’s Community choir, serving the Stockport community, but still true to our original aims, raising funds and awareness of the Beechwood Cancer Care charity.
We sing a mainly 4-part acappella repertoire, from pop, country to choral, put on charity concerts, and fundraisers, take part in local events and festivals, and we love to go to a party or show together socially. We’re a multigerational, fun loving crew, who love to learn, laugh and sing together, we love our little choir!
