Number of performers in the whole group: 25
Participation: Non-Competitive
Biography:

The Bloemfontein Men’s Choir (BMC) is a Christian, non-profit organisation consisting of 25 members, the Accompanist and the Choir Leader.  The Choir has no political/or Cultural affiliations and therefore functions as independently.

History:

Mrs Ansphi van der Walt was the founder of the Bloemfontein Men’s Choir, and has led the BMC since its inception in May 2000.  The accompanist of the BMC is Dr Petro Engelbrecht.

Group Members:

All our members are otherwise gainfully employed or Students and their disciplines to BMC is therefore voluntary. The BMC produced and/or participated in many successful stage productions and also hosted some of South Africa’s most talented performers during our Annual Concerts.

Other choirs who performed with the BMC include the Wales Men’s Choir (Cape Town), die Wales Men’s Choir (Durban), The Drakensberg Boys Choir, the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir. We also had the privilege to sing with the Wales Children’s Choir, as well as two other Wales Men’s Choirs during our previous tour to Llangollen and Wrexham.

Notable Achievements:

In 2014 we had the opportunity to take part at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in Wales.  In the Category “Men’s Choirs”, the BMC was awarded a Silver Medal.  The highlight of the Eisteddfod for the BMC was to represent South Africa in a Concert that was dedicated to South Africa and we had a standing applause.
We will make sure that we will give the audience a spectacular concert again this year.
