Biography:

The Contemporary Choreography Ensemble “Flamingo” of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth is a Folk-Dance Group based in Ukraine.

History

The Modern Choreography Ensemble “Flamingo” was founded in 1998 and has been under the artistic direction of Lyudmila Grishchenko since its inception. Guided by her expertise, the ensemble has grown to include over 200 children and young people, aged 5 to 21, united by their passion for choreography and a spirit of creative collaboration.

Group Activities

The training program, developed by the ensemble’s leaders, is titled “Modern Choreography in the Children’s and Youth Collective”. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends choreography with acrobatics. The program focuses on the development of modern dance, incorporating elements of classical, acrobatic, plastic, mimetic, and acting techniques. It encourages a distinctive and free performance style, characteristic of contemporary choreographic schools. In addition to modern works, the ensemble’s repertoire features a wide range of stylized folk dances, making “Flamingo” one of the most distinguished groups in Ukraine for folk dance stylization. The ensemble creatively combines modern choreography with folk traditions, bringing a fresh perspective to traditional dance.

The ensemble is a frequent participant in both national and international competitions and festivals. They also engage in numerous events organized by the Palace and the city. “Flamingo” represents Ukrainian culture and children’s creativity on international stages, earning accolades for the vibrancy, originality, and emotional depth of their performances. Their artistry, technical skill, acrobatic prowess, and professionalism have earned them widespread recognition.
