Biography:
Deansfield Primary School is situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Music plays a very special role within the school. All children love to sing and everyone learns to play a musical instrument. We have two thriving choirs and an orchestra.
The Choir have performed at a wide variety of venues, including the Royal Festival Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, and Queens’ College Chapel, Cambridge. The choir have sung two world premieres with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, first in 2015 and then in 2023 when they performed ‘Before the Firebird’ by Paul Rissman. The choir is one of the lead primary school choirs for the Borough and performs regularly in Greenwich Schools Concerts. The school has collaborated with Trinity Laban Conservatoire, including a project based on ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’ in 2019. The choir have been winners of the Choral Shield at the Beckenham Music Festival on four separate occasions. The choir were semi-finalists in the BBC Songs of Praise Young Choir of the Year in 2020.
Deansfield Primary School Choir have been coming regularly to the Eisteddfod since 2014, and the children are very excited to be coming back to such a special place again this year.
