Biography: Derby Grammar School Swing Band was formed in 2004 to give the musicians in the school the opportunity to play fun and challenging pieces in a different style to the main school band. The swing band play a variety of genres including jazz, funk, pop and rock by artists as diverse as Michael Bublé, Weather Report, Norah Jones and Taio Cruz. As well as the regular concert program for the school, they have played at Derby Assembly Rooms, Derby Cathedral, taken part in the National Festival of Music for Youth, tours of Belgium and Guernsey and came 2nd in the Ensemble category at the 2015 Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
