Biography:

The Hoolter Daansers are a group based in The Netherlands.

Our folkloric farmer’s dance group performs authentic dances from the beginning of the 20th century (1920). Our goal is to promote the folklore from (the area around) Holten in a responsible way. We dance on clogs and wear clothing from that period.

We adapt our costumes to the seasons. For example, in the summer we dance in our ‘day dress’ with the Polkamuts. In the winter we wear the ‘Sunday dress’. This includes the original Knipmuts. The men wear old-fashioned Klepbroek.

Accordion players support our dances with live music. This way, a performance is not only authentic, there is also a cosy, friendly atmosphere.

If possible, we speak the Low Saxon dialect from the area around Holten.

The Hoolter Daansers often perform at events, nursing homes and (farmers’) markets in the region. Every year we show Holten folklore in other European countries.
