Biography:

The Kurdish Folklore Dance Group is a group representing Kurdistan based in the UK.

We’re a group of Kurdish and Turkish teens, keen to share our culture with the world. We came together to learn our traditional dances and to bond together with more people of our own culture. We progress to learn our dances and the stories behind each dance to further pass on our culture and traditions. We rehearse 2 hours a week at a community centre.

Our teacher Huseyin Cicek had been coming to Llangollen to compete for 35+ years. Our group this year is a mixture of students who have recently joined and students who have been coming for the last 3-4 years. We’ve all joined the Kurdish Folklore Dance Group to embrace our Kurdish culture, and to learn more about our traditional dances.
