Biography:

Lindley Junior School is a Platinum Sing Up school where singing is at the heart of the school.

The Choir was formed in 1999 and has achieved many successes since both regionally and nationally.

Members and Group Activities

250 children participate in one of the four choirs available at the school. This choir, known as Lindley School Choir, is made up of 8-11 year olds all of whom relish all the different challenges presented from performing on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall to appearing on the Christmas edition of the CBeebies programme Justin’s House. They have many invitations to perform locally with a number of Huddersfield’s choirs and well known brass bands.

The choir has been very successful, having being thrilled to have won “Barnardo’s Children’s Choir of the year” in 2016, 2017 and 2018. However, the choir is probably best known for winning BBC “Songs of Praise Choir of the Year” in both 2008 and 2016.

At the Eisteddfod

The choir has travelled to the Eisteddfod for a number of years and choir and supporters alike enjoy this special day out in Wales.  As the Choir changes annually, it is a new experience for many of the children each year. They were very proud and pleased to win this competition in both 2013 and 2017.

The Choir and families have always enjoyed the opportunity to be part of the Llangollen Eisteddfod since 2011. 2025 marks the retirement of the choir’s Musical Director, Alison North MBE and so this year’s performance is very poignant.

In 2023, the Lindley Junior School Choir went on to win the Children’s Choir of the World. The opportunity to compete in such beautiful surroundings has made the Eisteddfod a very important part of the choir’s calendar.
