United African Dance Theatre

Gideon Akrong is the leader of the United African dance theatre at the art centre Accra, Ghana.

In Africa, as with other parts of the world, they do ceremonial dance that tells a story. They recount history, convey emotion, celebrate rites of passage, and helps unify communities. Their dances are usually associated with sub-Saharan and Western Africa dances.

Under the auspices of the Ministry Of Culture and the National Commission on Culture, they perform, organise festivals and use their talents to educate communities at schools in the Arts Centre. Most of their members have been worldwide including Australia, South Africa, Germany, Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Nigeria, Israel and many more.
