Biography:
Llay Welfare Band formerly Gresford Colliery Band were formed after the NUM office in Wrexham closed in the 1970’s. They were offered a place to rehearse at Llay Miners Institute and Llay Welfare band was born.
Since then the band has played an Active part in the world of banding. Most recently taking the Lead Band role of commemorating the Gresford Disaster. This included a Gala concert, playing on the pitch at Wrexham AFC and the annual remembrance service which the band has proudly done for many years.
We have an exciting calendar of events throughout the year. And are delighted to be sharing our passion for brass band music with you all for the Eisteddfod.
