I’m Tim Eastwood Wales Border Bagpiper and I play traditional pipe music from Wales and the Border area, and I play border pipes!
These bagpipes often using arm bellows and are used for folk music from Wales and England plus elsewhere such as Brittany, the Scottish Lowlands and Borders plus elsewhere in Northern Europe. I also play ancient and mediaeval music with period costumes for re-enactment and living history. I can create civic music of the late mediaeval period, courtly music from the Tudor period and country music from the renaissance period, with period costumes to match. I play Border Pipes, Pastoral Pipes, Smallpipes and Highland Pipes as well as the Welsh Pibgorn.
I have performed at both nationally and privately owned castles, the National Eisteddfod, National Theatre Wales, BBC Radio, civic, commercial and private functions.
I started playing music when I was a teenager, fell in love with folk and various folk instruments at the time, playing guitar, fiddle, mandolin, Irish Bouzouki, bass and tin whistle. After a number of years I had progressed to folk style bagpipes and have been playing pipes at sessions and in gigs for 10 years, since then I have concentrated more and more on pipes specifically.
Interesting story: The most frequent thing worth telling is that quite often when I’m outside playing strange people come to me drawn by the sound. Often they are pagans with cloaks and staffs.
