Biography:

The Tobago Alpha Dance Academy is a folk-dance group based in Trinidad & Tobago.

Founded in 2015 by Aquisia Frederick, Tobago’s premier limbo dancer, the Tobago Alpha Dance Academy has become a leading institution for nurturing dance talent in Tobago. Initially starting with just 15 members at the Tobago Red Cross building in Signal Hill, the academy has grown to accommodate a wider range of students at its current location, the Signal Hill Community Center.

With a focus on fostering self-awareness, discipline, and creativity, the academy offers dance training in folk, modern, and ballet techniques for both male and female dancers aged 3 and up. Classes are held every Saturday and Thursday, with an emphasis on building both technical skill and character. Students learn to apply their dance training to live performances, competitions, and a variety of community events, including the Tobago Heritage Festival and the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition.

The academy is dedicated to producing well-rounded, experienced dancers who are not only prepared for the stage but also equipped with the leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that serve them in all aspects of life. Through its motto, “Dance is our passion, lifestyle, and our language,” Tobago Alpha Dance Academy aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment where each dancer can thrive.
