Biography:

The UK Phoenix Chinese Cultural and Artistic Association is a Folk-Dance group representing China based in the UK.

Formed over 10 years ago, the function of the group is to provide Chinese ladies living in the UK an opportunity to meet and to perform dances and other activities relating to their Chinese origin and culture. The group has steadily increased in number throughout the ten years or so. Members of the group have been invited back to China to take courses and qualifications in the areas of artistry practiced, including the dancing, Qi Pao, Calligraphy and other crafts.

The group has performed at many Chinese New Year celebrations and is now regularly invited by the organising committees of the Liverpool and Manchester main Chinese New Year Celebrations. In addition, the group works with the Multi-Cultural hub in Wrexham and with the North East Wales Chinese Women’s Association to provide shows and events throughout each year.

All the ladies involved in the UK Phoenix Chinese Cultural and Artistic Association are volunteers and come from as far as Anglesey, Llandudno, Manchester, Blackpool and Liverpool and rehearse each week in Liverpool. They do this purely as a hobby and for the love of demonstrating their culture to others.
