Biography:
Witchford Voices formed in 2010 as a group of singers from the small Cambridgeshire village of Witchford, on the Isle of Ely. The choir rapidly grew, attracting singers from across the county.
Led by musical director Naomi D’Cunha, the choir does not audition and has become an extended family, welcoming anyone prepared to give their very best.
Group Activities
While the original mandate was simply to sing for the sheer fun of it, the choir has developed into a highly accomplished group, performing at local and world-class venues, raising money for good causes, and providing significant experience for singers of all abilities. The Choir has gained a reputation for being hugely entertaining, dynamic and accessible. Completing three European tours, in addition to concerts in many cathedrals, church halls and school fetes along with two superb visits to the Llangollen Eisteddfod, the choir has had a wealth of singing opportunities and a great deal of fun.
Past performances have included visits to the cathedrals in Norwich, Ely, Bury St Edmunds and both in Dublin. Two tours in Belgium also found them singing at the Menin Gate as part of the Last Post Ceremony, a very moving event for all.
2018 performances include non-competitive involvement in Llangollen International Eisteddfod, where 70 performers and 40 supporters had the weekend of their lives. We have also completed sell out performances at the Maltings Theatre in Ely.
Quality and fun go hand in hand, and Witchford Voices goes from strength to strength.
