Biography: Young Voices of Colorado was formed in 1990 to fill a void in the Littleton, Colorado, community. Our founder and Artistic Director, Jena Dickey saw the need for an extracurricular choral music education program that would expand opportunities offered in traditional church and school settings—one in which all children would be welcome to participate regardless of race, colour, creed, socio-economic level, ability to pay and even talent. The choir started with a small group of neighbourhood children and has now expanded to almost 200 singers. Several levels of choir were established for singers ages 5 through 18 and of all ability levels, so that no child would be turned away.
