Biography:

Ysgol Gerdd Ceredigion is an innovative music school based in Castell Newydd Emlyn in the picturesque Teifi Valley, West Wales.

Established by Islwyn Evans in 1993, the school offers extended opportunities and experiences to the younger generation of the local catchment area to perform and compete regularly on local, national and international stages. Children and young people attend weekly lessons and choir rehearsals in the market town of Newcastle Emlyn.

The Ysgol Gerdd Ceredigion choir has won numerous awards including outright winners of S4C’s Côr Cymru 3 times, the National Eisteddfod, multiple awards at the Music For Youth Festival, School Proms, and several awards at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. The choir has also travelled extensively, Concert tours include visits to California, Toronto, Paris, Patagonia, Cologne, Hungary, Ireland and Scotland. And have represented Wales in the Eurovision Choir Competition.
