Côr Ysgol Y Strade

Côr Ysgol Y Strade will be joining us on Wednesday 8th July and will take part in the Senior Children’s Choir competition. This will be held in the Main Pavilion.

Biography:

Ysgol Y Strade was established in Llanelli in 1977 as a bilingual comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. Over the years, the school has developed a special reputation for musical activities. Success in concerts and broadcasts, as well as in competitions, and the Music department’s contributions regularly support charitable activities in the community.

Côr Ysgol Y Strade is a very active and lively choir. The choir has 70 members aged 11-18. Christopher Davies, Head of the Music Department, is the Choir’s conductor, and the accompanist is Meinir Jones Parry.

In 2019, the Choir won the ‘Excellence in Music’ award as part of the ‘Celebrating Carmarthenshire Culture’ awards. In 2023, the Choir won first prize in the MACC competition at RNCM, Manchester. The Choir is very active in the community.
