Deansfield Primary School Choir

Biography: Deansfield Primary School is a state primary school situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Music plays a very special role within the school. All children learn musical instruments from the age of 7 years onwards. We have two thriving choirs and an orchestra. The choir of children from the age of 7 to 11, today regularly perform at a wide variety of venues. They have appeared at the Royal Festival Hall in London on number of occasions over the past few years, the most notable being an appearance with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015. The choir is one of the lead primary school choirs for the Borough and is heavily involved in Greenwich Schools Concerts. In addition the choir has collaborated with Trinity Laban Conservatoire in a composition project based on the opera Carmen. For the past 4 years the choir have been winners of the Choral Shield at the Beckenham Music Festival. This is Deansfield’s third appearance at the International Eisteddfod. For the children who came there it was definitely the highlight of their choral career. As well as performing at high profile events, the children also enjoy sharing their love of singing in the local community.
