Folklore Dance Formation ‘Bulgaria’

Folklore Dance Formation ‘Bulgaria’ will be joining us Saturday 11th July, taking part in the Traditional Folk-Dance Group and Open Dance Group competitions. These competitions will be held in the Main Pavilion.

Biography:

Folklore Dance Formation ‘Bulgaria’ was founded in 2016 with the purpose of preserving and promoting Bulgarian folklore dancing and traditions in the UK. The formation has worked with embassies, local authorities and other community organisations to encourage community cohesion and cultural awareness in the UK and abroad. Folklore Dance Formation ‘Bulgaria’ has taken part in many international festivals and has performed for several television channels, with its most recent featuring being on ITV News, as a part of the welcoming committee for Nicoletta Mantovani, Luciano Pavarotti’s widow in Llangollen.

The formation has performed a few times in the non-competitive and competitive categories at the International Musical Eisteddfod in 2024 and 2025. Folklore Dance Formation ‘Bulgaria’ has a number of dance schools across the Midlands, including in Nottingham, Coventry, Boston, and Doncaster. The dance formation aims to showcase authentic folklore dances as close as possible to the original form danced in Bulgaria many centuries ago.
