Lindley Junior School Choir

A trip to the International Eisteddfod is always a wonderful occasion for both Lindley Choir and their parents alike. Lindley Choir has enjoyed appearing at the Eisteddfod in Llangollen most years since 2011. They were thrilled to win the Children’s Choir Class in 2013 and 2017 but to be crowned “Children’s Choir of the World” at last year’s Eisteddfod was a real high point and the local interest in the win led to the choir being on Calendar in Yorkshire.

Lindley Junior School is a platinum Sing Up school where singing is the heart of the school. 250 of the children in school participate in one of the four choirs available. This choir, known as Lindley Choir, is made up of 8-11 year olds all of whom relish all the different challenges presented to them from performing on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall to appearing on the Christmas edition of the CBeebies programme Justin’s House. They have many invitations to perform locally with a number of Huddersfield’s choirs and well known brass bands.

The choir has also won “Barnardo’s Children’s Choir of the year” in 2016, 2017 and 2018 , after which they were invited by John Bercow to perform in the Speaker’s Chambers at the Houses of Parliament . Further successes were in BBC “Songs of Praise Choir of the Year” in both 2008 and 2016. As a result of winning the 2008 programme, the choir was invited to appear on Lesley Garratt’s programme “Christmas Voices. And perform with Aled Jones on a recording for “Children in Need”.
