Biography: Founded in 1982, and under the artistic direction of Jacob Winkler, Seattle Girls Choir provides a comprehensive and progressive choral education with an emphasis on vocal technique, musical literacy, and ensemble performance for girls aged 6 years old through 18. The choir regularly collaborates with other Seattle area arts organisations and performs regionally and internationally. Seattle Girls Choir has over 180 members from the Puget Sound region, divided among six progressive levels. Prime Voci is the top tier of the organisation and is the senior choir level for an average of four years and have usually been with Seattle Girls Choir for up to 11 years. The choir rehearses in Seattle, twice per week for a total of 5 hours.
The choir has won many awards, but their biggest success is seeing the proud young women, having achieved a high level of musicianship, sense of accomplishment, made lifelong friendships, and gained an appreciation for the arts that will last a lifetime.
