Llangollen Eisteddfod calls for group applications during International Day of Peace

To celebrate International Day of Peace (Friday, September 21st 2018) the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is encouraging contestants from across the globe to play their small part in contributing towards world peace by participating in the forthcoming 2019 festival, from 2nd – 7th July.

Each year, the International Day of Peace, whose history is deeply connected to the long-standing traditions adopted by the Llangollen Eisteddfod, is observed around the world as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace amongst all nations.

Mared Williams Named International Voice of Musical Theatre 2018

Welsh performer scoops prestigious title and opportunity-of-a-lifetime prize to sing at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod in Australia

A Welsh performer has been named Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod’s International Voice of Musical Theatre for 2018.

Mared Williams, aged 21, wowed audiences and adjudicators with her performances of “So Big / So Small”,  “Pulled” from The Addams Family and “Being Alive” on the stage of the Royal International Pavilion in the competition’s final on Wednesday 4th July. (more…)

Inclusion Project SENDS A Message of Peace for Tenth Year

The Llangollen Eisteddfod celebrated ten years of its Inclusion Project today [WEDNESDAY 4TH JULY] with the performance of its newly commission piece, SEND A Message on the Royal international Pavilion stage.

Facilitated by a generous grant from the ScottishPower Foundation, the performance captured the hearts and minds of festival audiences, as five unique groups from across Wales and Shropshire came together to deliver the piece to excited crowds.  (more…)

The Llangollen Eisteddfod SENDS A Message of Peace to All

The Llangollen Eisteddfod is celebrating ten years of its Inclusion Project with the commission of a brand new performance piece, SEND A Message, on Wednesday 4th July.

The fully inclusive project, which promotes harmony and accessibility for all within the performing arts, celebrates its tenth year with a performance piece written by poet Aled Lewis Evans and composer Owain Llwyd.

Performed by children from St Christopher’s School in Wrexham, Ysgol Tir Morfa in Rhyl, Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn in Denbighshire, individuals from Derwen College in Oswestry and the Theatretrain Regional Choir in Mold, SEND A Message promotes the idea of spreading love and peace via music, song and dance and showcases a range of diverse talent from across Wales.

Final Call for Pendine International Voice of the Future competition

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is seeking talented young soloists to enter before the March 2 deadline so they can vie for the prestigious title.

A “sensational” soprano who won one of the main prizes at an international festival is urging young soloists from around the world to enter this year’s competition to launch their career on the global stage.

According to Sian Dicker, 27, being crowned the Pendine International Voice of the Future at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has been a boost to her career aspirations to become a leading opera singer.

Globally renowned singer Gregory Porter praises International Eisteddfod during evening of smooth soul and jazz

Jazz, blues and soul singer, Gregory Porter piled praise on the International Eisteddfod during his stunning performance on Friday 7th July, thanking it for its commitment to bringing together people in the spirit of love and peace and supporting the survival of folk music.

Speaking from the stage of the Royal International Pavilion, Porter related two of his great hits to the ethos behind the annual festival: “There’s good vibes here,” he said.
