Llangollen Eisteddfod Christmas Concert

On Sunday 13th December the Music and Staging Committee will hold their annual Christmas Concert at the Pavilion in Llangollen starting at 7.30pm. Now in its third consecutive year, the concert has become a popular and eagerly anticipated date in the Eisteddfod calendar and with a programme bursting with a mix of seasoned performers and rising talent, this year’s event promises to be a real cracker.

Classical singing sensation Katherine Jenkins has been unveiled as a star attraction at next year’s Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. She will be treating the audience to a concert version of Georges Bizet’s opera, Carmen, the tale of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier seduced by the fiery Gypsy.

Voices Of Musical Theatre

Opera superstar Bryn Terfel is planning to celebrate the 70th Llangollen International Musical Festival in style, sharing the bill with a good friend who’s also a world class tenor. The popular bass baritone Bryn Terfel CBE will be the star of the evening concert on Thursday, July 7, alongside his supremely talented Maltese opera colleague, Joseph Calleja whose voice has been compared to the legendary Caruso. Bryn and Joseph will also be joined on stage by the Eisteddfod’s 2014 Voice of the Future competition winner, mezzo soprano Eirlys Myfanwy Davies alongside the Sinfonia Cymru Orchestra conducted by Gareth Jones.
