New Zealand Secondary Students Choir

The New Zealand Secondary Students Choir was founded in 1986 for secondary school students, aged 13 to 18 years. Since then, they have given hundreds of concerts and undertaken 13 international tours. They have won numerous awards and been named Outstanding Choir of the Festival and won Gold at the Pacific Basin Choral Festival, Hawaii.

The New Zealand Secondary Students Choir gathers every second year for a week of rehearsals and concerts throughout the country. Many students join the New Zealand Youth Choir after joining NZSSC.

International tours were often planned around major choir competitions at which NZSSC won many accolades; at the Hong Kong International Youth & Children’s Festival NZSSC took the top award and won the title “The World’s Choir”, at the World Choir Games in Xiamen, China.
