Llanfest’s Fratellis Finale Rocks North Wales

The Scottish indie rockers The Fratellis and the Merseyside music legends The Coral bring Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2019 to a tumultuous close.

Llangollen’s Llanfest, the finale festival of the annual International Eisteddfod, drew to a celebratory end last night (Sunday 7th July) with an immense set from joint headliners, The Fratellis and The Coral.

Liverpool’s Cavern Club returns to Llangollen

North Wales’ week-long summer festival, the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, has announced that the world’s most famous music club, Liverpool’s Cavern Club, will return this year.

After debuting its first ever pop-up stage last year at the International Eisteddfod, the Liverpool-based club is returning to entertain audiences at the festival’s finale party, called Llanfest, on Sunday 7th July.

John Lennon’s sister honoured to be first Day President of Llanfest

Julia Baird, John Lennon’s sister, will be the first person ever to be honoured as the Day President for Llanfest, the finale day of the International Eisteddfod.

There has been a long tradition of Day Presidents being honoured at the week-long Eisteddfod. Day Presidents are invited to the event to recognise the ongoing work they do in spreading the message of peace and goodwill, which is at the heart of the event.

Llanfest is the final Sunday of the festival and has evolved into a modern mix of rock, pop and indie music, including bands such as the Manic Street Preachers and this year’s headliners, indie-pop legends the Kaiser Chiefs. (more…)

Llanfest Full line-up Revealed

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has revealed the full star-studded outside stage line-up for this year’s Llanfest (Sunday 8th July, 2pm).

Multi-platinum English indie pop-legends, Kaiser Chiefs will be headlining on the main stage, supported by renowned pop rock band Hoosiers and nineties icons Toploader.

Llanfest is fast becoming a ‘music Mecca’ to see emerging bands on the outside stages during the day before the headliners take to the main stage in the evening. This year festival-goers will be able to enjoy three outdoor stages, jam-packed with rock, pop and indie music.
