Ysgol Friars Jazz Band will be joining us Saturday 11th July, taking part in the Community Bands competition. This competition will be held on the Globe Stage.

Biography:
Originally formed by respected Music teacher, Menna Leyshon in the late 1980s, the Ysgol Friars Jazz band was re-established in 2018 after a break of over 20 years. Since then, a hard working and committed group of young musicians has developed, enjoying making music together on a weekly basis.
Highlights for the band include performances at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Maldwyn, Denbigh and Eisteddfod T as well as appearing at Eisteddfod Mon in May 2025. The band have also participated in workshops with the Royal Marines Band Service at Music For Youth in Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the Band of the Prince of Wales from the Royal Corps of Army Music and with composer/ conductor, John Quirk.
Members of the band range from Year 7 to Year 13 and aim to perform music from a variety of different genres including jazz, rock and film music whilst having a lot of fun along the way.
