Chantage is one of the UK’s leading amateur choirs. Formed in 1999 by Musical Director James Davey, quickly establishing itself in London as a stylish and energetic young chamber choir, Chantage draws singers from all over London and the South East, and from all walks of life.

Strong commitment from its members has helped forge a reputation as an award-winning and versatile choir, winning the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year competition in 2006, the Grand Prix at the Malta International Choir Festival in 2015 and, most recently, the ‘Choir Challenge’ at the 2025 Mrs Sunderland Festival in Huddersfield.

Chantage performs a wide range of repertoire, collaborating with artists across all genres, including performances at; the Brighton Early Music Festival, the London Acapella Festival, Royal Festival Hall (with Paco Peña), The Purcell Room (with MC Zani), Union Chapel (with the Swingle Singers), Abbey Road Studios (live album recording with Elbow in 2009), Royal Albert Hall (BBC Proms world premiere with the Aurora Orchestra in 2014), and many more, with recordings frequently featured on Classic FM and BBC radio.

Chantage is also a supporter of the next generation of choral conductors, singers and composers, and have been co-hosts of the London International Choral Conducting Competition since 2018.
