Betty recalls her 50 memorable years in hospitality for Llangollen Eisteddfod
A veteran volunteer at an iconic festival is adding her voice to an appeal for new recruits to the army of unpaid helpers who have helped Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod reach its 70th year.
Betty Roberts, from Johnstown, Wrexham, has been one of the vital cogs in the festival’s wheel for 50 years , meeting Diana, Princess of Wales and finding accommodation for thousands of competitors in that time. (more…)
Signed cartoon by musical giant going for a song at festival auction
A signed cartoon by legendary singer-songwriter Burt Bacharach of his hit song Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head is to be auctioned for Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
The 87-year-old American superstar penned the cartoon on a blank postcard for the iconic festival, writing the first bar of music on one side with some raindrops and then signing the other side. (more…)

Sex and the City singers bring musical fizz to Llangollen

Snowflakes recall their Llangollen glory almost 70 years on
Members of a Cardiff children’s choir that won at the first ever Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod are still going strong as the 70th event approaches.
Back in 1947, the Cardiff Snowflakes took the inaugural festival by storm, being crowned the champion children’s choir and going on to make records and tour extensively. (more…)
Return visit to Llangollen is dream come true for Collabro star Thomas Redgrave
A musical theatre boy band who won TV’s Britain’s Got Talent and reduced star judge Amanda Holden to tears are headed to North Wales.
Collabro will be starring with Kerry Ellis, the First Lady of the West End, in the Voices of Musical Theatre concert at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod on Wednesday, July 6.
And for one of the band members, Thomas Redgrave, it’s going to mean a happy return to Llangollen where he competed as part of a choir from London some years ago.
California choirs chase choral gold at Llangollen
A choir that has backed the Rolling Stones will be at Llangollen this summer as part of a Californian gold rush.
They reckon there’s choral gold in them thar hills and so four top choirs from the Golden State are headed for the small town in North Wales for a singing shoot-out this July.
The fame of the Choir of the World event and other choral competitions at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has enticed them to make the 5,000-mile trek to Wales for this summer’s 70th festival. (more…)
Top tenor’s musical date with Katherine Jenkins
One of the world’s top tenors has a musical date with classical superstar Katherine Jenkins OBE at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, it’s been revealed.
Noah Stewart is set for a third appearance at Llangollen in four years as he prepares to join the Welsh mezzo soprano on stage for a concert adaption of Georges Bizet’s opera, Carmen.
According to Stewart, who hails from Harlem, in New York, he can’t wait to perform alongside Katherine in her portrayal of the fiery gypsy, Carmen, in ‘special’ Llangollen, which is one of his favourite concert venues. (more…)
