Biography: Cathays Brass is an inclusive community band based in the heart of Cardiff. Their aim is to provide a fun and enjoyable environment where members can create great music. The Social Music Group mainly perform for enjoyment and enjoy raising money for Charity. Last year through fundraising they made a donation of £550 to the Velindre Cancer Trust and are looking forward to supporting Llamau Homeless Charity with fundraising events in the second half of 2018.
They rehearse weekly under the guidance of their professional Director of Music, Martyn Ford, who encourages the group to try new unusual repertoire and develop their listening skills to raise performance standards.
The ensemble is keen on regular formal and informal performances across Cardiff and also has a great twinning relationship with Musikverein Stuttgart-Hofen which involves regular tours from both groups.
