Julian has been playing the piano since the age of 6 when he started lessons with Ann Atkinson. After passing his grade 5, he began lessons with the renowned Welsh pianist Iwan Llywelyn-Jones. For his final two years of secondary school, Julian was a member of the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, where he had lessons with pianist Jonathan Middleton. He has competed successfully at the Urdd Eisteddfod and the Welsh National Eisteddfod. Julian also plays the French Horn and has played with a number of orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and Oxford University Orchestra. He is currently in his second year studying Maths at Oxford University.
