Biography: Peterborough Male Voice Choir was founded in 1935 by workers at Peterborough’s old sugar beet factory. Renewed success came with the appointment of William Prideaux as musical director in 2010. The multi award-winning Peterborough Male Voice Choir is widely recognised as one of the country’s finest male choirs. They rehearse weekly at the John Mansfield Campus in Peterborough, England.
Peterborough Male Voice Choir is made up of talented and enthusiastic men from all walks of life and of all ages. The choir aims to be accessible to as many men as possible and since 2011 their phenomenally successful pop-up projects Sing for Heroes and Men United in Song have introduced hundreds of local men to the joys of group singing and raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity in the process.
In 2011 the choir won two England-wide arts prizes: the EPIC award from Voluntary Arts (UK) and the People’s Choice Poll. In 2017 Peterborough Male Voice Choir won the male voice category at the prestigious Mrs Sunderland Festival in Huddersfield, the male voice class at the Oundle Festival of Music and Drama, and the male voice class at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts.
